The Zipp 353 NSW Tubeless Wheelset for disc brakes is the pinnacle of Zipp's endeavor. These wheels combine two of Zipp's most advanced wheel design concepts - the Sawtooth rim profile and Total System Efficiency technology. They thus ensure an all-encompassing approach to the driving performance of the wheels.
With a wavy rim profile and a rim height of 45mm, the 353 NSW is fast on any track profile. They provide best-in-class aerodynamic efficiency and crosswind stability. The 353 NSW is Zipp's lightest set of tubeless wheels yet, so they're ready to carve their way into escapes. Without the hook, the transition between the tire and the rim is much smoother and more aerodynamic. This design also allows for a more efficient distribution of the resin in the rim material, which means lighter wheels. They are also highly durable.
The Sawtooth rim shape of the 353 NSW wheels with Hyperfoil technology optimizes aerodynamic efficiency and stability in crosswinds. The wavy Sawtooth shape also allows the rim to be structurally strong while also being lightweight. For riders, this means fast exits from corners and maintaining high speed regardless of the track profile, especially in steep and energetic passages.
353 NSW use Total System Efficiency (TSE) technology. This is Zipp's specific approach to wheel design, where it tries to overcome specific obstacles to achieve maximum speed: wind resistance, gravity (weight), rolling resistance and losses from vibrations from the ground. The inner rim width of 25 mm is ideal for the use of wider tubeless tires with lower air pressure to achieve a more efficient ride.
The 353 NSW wheels are entwined on Cognition V2 hubs, which have been upgraded with a redesigned Axial Clutch V2 ratchet mechanism. The result is faster engagement and less friction, as well as improved service life.
