The very light, technical and durable avalanche backpack ORTOVOX Ascent 28 S Avabag Kit is ideal for one-day skitouring, ski mountaineering or splitboarding. With a volume of 28 liters and internal pockets, you will have enough space for all the equipment you need with you for a perfect day in the mountains on the ski slopes. The Ascent avalanche backpack stands out especially with its wide range of equipment attachment options, such as two ice axes, a rope, a helmet and skis. Comprehensive comfort is underlined by the convenient 3D back system. With the drawstring straps , you can reduce the size of the backpack or completely remove the avalanche system and use the backpack for any other purpose.The backpack itself without the avalanche system weighs a very cool 1140g (with the avalanche system and bomb 2140g). Its 3D foam back system is covered with softshell to prevent snow from sticking to the back. The wide waist belt, which is equipped with a metal buckle, together with the ergonomically shaped shoulder straps, ensures a very comfortable wearing. It has no unnecessary straps and rubber bands, but only functional elements. ORTOVOX designers took care of a very clean look even when you carry ice axes, rope and skis on it.
Although the backpack is made of a touch of soft material, the fabric used with a ripstop weave is extremely resistant to tearing. Every detail of the backpack is well-crafted, durable materials are used, so you don't have to worry about the edges of skis, snowboards, ice axes or snowshoes.
Avabag avalanche system
The AVABAG avalanche system, made in Switzerland, works on the principle of the Venturi effect, which does not need any electronics to function, is fully enclosed and very simple in design. There is no damage or corrosion. The volume of the entire system unit is 1.8 l, so it is smaller than a two-liter bottle of water, but the weight is almost a third, 690 g! Despite how small the system is, it has enormous power and inflates the airbag very quickly (it was able to lift a car during tests). Thanks to its small volume , you will always have enough space for your things and you don't have to hesitate whether to take the avalanche system kit with you or leave it at home. The volume of the backpack size 28 l indicates the actual volume after subtracting the volume of the entire AVABAG system (including the bomb). The 160-liter emergency airbag is not glued or sewn. Everything is connected by innovative welding technology in one single edge. That's why the bag is so light, durable and waterproof. The instructions for assembling the airbag "into an accordion" are part of the backpack and you always have this important information with you.Simple activation of the avalanche system - the ergonomic pull handle with anti-slip treatment is easy to grip. In addition , the handle can be adjusted according to the height of the character, so you will always have it at hand. Whether you are right-handed or left-handed, you can always grip the handle comfortably and correctly. There is a pocket on the shoulder strap in which you can hide the cable in situations where you do not want the system to be activated unintentionally (at the lodge, in the cable car cabin, etc.)
Everything at hand - the main pocket has a waterproof two-way zipper along the perimeter of the backpack, so you can get into it like a suitcase. You can see everything right away and you don't have to search the whole backpack. The interior is bright for better orientation in the dark. In the main pocket there is a printed instruction manual for assembling the airbag, a loop for a gas cylinder, a clip for a water tank and a spacious pocket with a drawstring for a sponge or a first aid kit.
