Camalot Z4 is a new line of Black Diamond friends, honed to their complete satisfaction by Black Diamond ambassadors. Their goal was to develop a friend that will be easily placed in the joint even in a difficult position. Since it is a trend to climb more and more difficult routes with your own belay, such a belay aid is an absolute necessity not only for top traditionalist climbers.
Friend Z4 comes in 7 different sizes. This model has many advantages - the RigidFlex rod remains firm in the hand, the body of the friend does not bend or twist when the cam rods are pulled. It is thus possible to place the Friend in its place with one precise movement. Larger sizes have a double-twisted cable, so the stem of the friend bends evenly. In addition, the head has a narrow profile, so the friend can be inserted even into shallower joints, the surface of the cams is modified by sandblasting. This increases the friction of the segments against the rock surface.
Friend sits more securely in its position and is less prone to ringing from the joint. The trigger wires of the individual cams have an independent floating bearing. The Camalot does not flex when under tension, but once in place allows the stem to move, ensuring the head is always positioned in the joint. And just as a bonus, individual sizes are distinguished by a colored strip.
