Giro Avera MIPS women's ski helmet, matte black
The Avera women's helmet was inspired by panoramas of mountain massifs and stylish arches carved into fresh powder. The lightweight In-Mold shell is equipped with the In Form fastening system, which holds the helmet perfectly on the head. In addition to a 6cm girth reduction, you also have a height adjustment to achieve the perfect combination with glasses or hair pulled back into a braid. When you ski all day, you can very quickly feel cold and hot. That's why you'll appreciate the simple Thermostat Control ventilation regulation - you won't even have to take off your gloves. The helmet is equipped with very soft inner linings. Selected colors are available with MIPS technology, which offers increased brain protection against rotational forces.

MIPS IS A MOVEMENT
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible during impact and meet the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in the event of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. In an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only on the order of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (multidirectional Impact Protection System) AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
MIPS is a slippery insert between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner linings. In the event of an impact at an angle, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters after the MIPS layer, protecting the head and brain from a violent rotational jerk.
