Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel shoe cleaner
A special cleaner designed to revive the water repellency and breathability of all waterproof footwear. It is easy to apply by hand, is non-flammable and PFC-free .Breathable waterproof shoes are most likely to sweat and get damp inside when used in damp or wet conditions. If the outer fabric or leather absorbs water, the breathability of the shoe will be reduced. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the durable water repellency (DWR) of the footwear to ensure comfort. When used on the outer surface of the shoe, they trap contaminants, such as dirt, which attract water, masking the effect of any DWR finish. Nikwax Shoe Cleaning Gel removes dirt and revives DWR.
When you are active and wearing shoes, socks wick moisture away from your feet and keep them dry. However, if your shoes absorb water and become "soaked", their breathability will decrease. Moisture vapor will not be able to escape through the material, so your feet will feel sticky and damp.
Regular cleaning will enhance the performance of your shoes by removing water-attracting (hydrophilic) dirt and other debris picked up from outdoor activities. Cleaning with Nikwax Shoe Cleaning Gel will revive the durable water repellency (DWR) of your shoes and cause water to bead up on the outer surface. When Nikwax Shoe Cleaning Gel alone does not revive your shoes' DWR, it's time to re-impregnate with a suitable Nikwax shoe impregnation product.
How to use
- Rinse the item with clean water to remove loose dirt and moisten the surface.
- Shake well before use. Press the brush applicator to break the seal or turn the spray nozzle to the "ON" position.
- Apply liberally to the cleaned area.
- If it is very dirty, scrub it with a stiff nylon brush (e.g. nail brush)
- Rinse well with clean water.
- If necessary, apply a suitable impregnation or Nikwax WaterBased conditioner while the footwear is still damp.
- Note: Paint may run, test on a hidden area first
- Let the shoes dry at room temperature.
- You can put paper between your fingers to absorb excess moisture, which should be replaced when it gets wet.
- Keep shoes away from fire and radiators, drying them too quickly can cause the leather to crack and the glued soles to come off.
