The Devold® Nansen sweater is an integral part of the Devold story, named after the famous Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen, who completed the first crossing of Greenland in 1888 wearing Devold clothing.

Devold® Originals are warm and traditional sweaters made from 100% Norwegian wool. These sweaters were originally made for fishermen and other workers who tested them daily in the harsh Norwegian environment. Today, these sweaters have become popular as a second or third layer, which is ideal for cold weather. For greater wearing comfort, the sets are pre-washed so that they are soft enough and have an ideal shape. Norse company Devold produces wool base layers. In 1853, Ole Andreas Devold founded this company in Ålesund. A tradition dating back as this one is unique - it is surely the oldest producer of the wool base layer in the world. Devold's base layers range from the light collection ''Breeze'' (which is best for the warmer months and sweatier activities) to the ''Expedition'' collection (best for very cold conditions). Other than base layers for every activity, they also make sweaters, headwear, gloves, socks and more.
