Nova Ride, a French company founded in 2016 in Clermont-Ferrand, specializes in the design of high-end bicycle components. The Nova Ride Aero stem design improves aerodynamics by focusing on frontal impact as well as smoothing and controlling tailwind thanks to the unique aero wing design (enclosed in the front of the cage and in the rear).
Continuous development and dialogue with professional athletes spanning more than two years, during which extensive software testing, wind tunnel testing and road testing took place, influenced multiple aspects of the design.
The end result is a brand new full carbon cage construction surrounding our existing mechanically optimized design.
Thanks to the covering of the upper 14-tooth and lower 17-tooth pulleys, the chain's movement is optimized as it passes through the pulleys and bending and friction are minimized, which saves an additional 1.3 watts compared to their classic Nova Ride arm. Both color-anodized pulleys are made of solid AL7075 duralumin alloy and equipped with all-ceramic bearings with minimal rolling resistance that do not require any special maintenance or lubrication! All-ceramic bearings feature high-precision ceramic balls as well as ceramic raceways made of silicon nitride. The main advantages of all-ceramic bearings compared to standard bearings are their longer service life, lower weight, greater strength, lower rolling resistance and excellent anti-corrosion properties. Their weight is about 60% lower, while they are 7 times stronger compared to steel balls. The used seal minimizes friction and protects the bearing against dirt ingress.
