Rebirth icon
The R7 has a huge history of combining lightness with performance and reliability. The latest reincarnation is no different from the icon. The new expert R7 combines excellent damping thanks to the patented 3-position two-piston VTT damper with light and stiff 32 mm legs.

Expert Air
The Manitou Expert air spring system features a unique balancing valve that balances the positive and negative air chambers during the air filling process. This gives the spring a stable and consistent feel without any stiff or dead points in the stroke.

When developing the VTT Pro shock absorber, we aimed to maintain a rock-solid lockout without compromise, which will not affect the operation in the open and medium settings of the fork. The disadvantage of many fixed lock dampers is that in any position other than lock, you will reach a critical shaft speed that dampens the flow path at low speed. If this happens, the lockout acts with almost the same locking force as in the closed position. This will not only be felt by your hands, but will probably also cause a lack of control while driving.
The goal of VTT is to eliminate this ailment while maintaining the lockout that most XC users use. This allows the fork to have a less progressive high-speed response while maintaining some support at low speeds without being annoying. This is achieved by independent shimstacks (one for blocking, one for the other two positions). By operating the chimney liner through which the oil flow is drained, we can manipulate the damper characteristics such as Lock-out, Degressive or Progressive to meet the rider's requirements for the terrain he is driving.

Lower legs
When developing any Manitou fork, our primary goal is to achieve the perfect balance of weight, rigidity and reliability. Thanks to our Reverse Arch system, we are able to place the bridge further away from the tire. This solution provides 13% higher rigidity compared to the front fork bridge of equivalent weight. The legs with a diameter of 32 mm provide high rigidity for riding even in difficult terrain, but while maintaining a favorable weight.
