Made from T6061-T6 aluminum alloy, the Shimano crank set screw adjusts the axial load on the bearings and holds the arm in place while you tighten the crank bolts to the correct torque.

Choosing the right length
Short: compatible with current generation HollowTech II off road cranks (GRX, XT, SLX) and newer Dura-Ace R9200 and Ultegra R8100 cranks.
Long: Compatible with all other Shimano HollowTech II road cranks including Dura Ace R9100, Ultegra R8000 and 105 R7000. Previous generations may have used a short version, like earlier production Dura Ace 9000 sets.

Assembly
Screw the mounting bolt into the crank arm and tighten until all axial play between the crank arm and the center assembly disappears. Then loosen the screw a quarter or half turn to ensure that there is no axial load on the center assembly bearings, which would cause friction and premature bearing wear. Then tighten the handle tightening screws to the recommended torque.
