Racing hardtail with F-SI Ballistec Carbon carbon frame, RockShox Reba RL 100mm air fork, aluminum braided wheels and SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed.
Although they pay for the most affordable model of the F-SI series, it is also ready to fight for podium positions at any time. Cannondale F-SI Carbon 5 relies on a high-end carbon frame literally studded with the most modern technologies, but unlike more expensive models, it is complemented by an air fork of conventional construction. The result is a very fast, comfortable and highly reliable racing hardtail with which you can boldly attack the highest targets.
The F-SI Ballistec Carbon carbon frame is incredibly stiff and at the same time very light, and in combination with the RockShox Reba RL front fork, it can handle much more off-road than you would expect from a racing Hardtail of this category. Thanks to the geometry with a short rear structure, a more relaxed head angle and a large offset of the fork axis, nothing will stop you on the racing tracks. The frame, together with the fork, is mounted on rigid braided wheels with wide rims, precise shifting is ensured by Sram NX Eagle components with 1x12 speeds.
FRAME
The F-SI Ballistec Carbon carbon frame is made of light and at the same time very strong carbon fibers, which allow you to tune the overall driving characteristics down to the smallest details. Compared to its predecessor, it is a full 80 grams lighter, and with a total weight of 900 grams, it is the lightest frame Cannondale has ever produced. Extreme rigidity while maintaining only very low weight and maximum driving comfort, that's what it's all about! The key point of the entire frame is the rear structure with the so-called asymmetrical integration of the drive. Thanks to the displacement of the drive system by six millimeters to the right, the rear structure has been significantly shortened, and thus also a significant improvement in the bike's handling both on and off-road. At the same time, this solution made it possible to maintain sufficient passability for the use of wide casings and sets with two converters. Shifting the drivetrain made it possible to create a more uniform rear string for even more stiffness when sprinting and cornering.
Sufficient comfort is guaranteed by the elaborate Save Micro Suspension system, which uses directionally optimized carbon fiber weaving and enables controlled sagittal movement of the seat tube of the frame. The seat tube and with it the entire rear frame triangle work in a vertical direction and effectively dampen vibrations and other small impacts. The result is not only better traction and higher speed, but above all a noticeable reduction in rider fatigue even on really long tracks. A new feature is the Speed Release axle for faster and easier rear wheel replacement. The special shape of the feet makes it possible to leave the axle in the hub and remove the wheel just as easily as in the case of a classic quick release. The Speed Release axle is compatible with 148x12 mm cartridges.
GEOMETRY
The geometry of the new F-SI is defined by a very short rear structure, a significantly offset front fork axis and, last but not least, a noticeably lower head angle. Such geometry will provide enough stability even on the most demanding descents, it will surprise you with perfect traction in all aspects on exits, and at the same time it will not lack playfulness and agility that will put a smile on your face in the terrain. Extending the reach and stack values contributes to greater comfort behind the handlebars.
DIAMETER OF WHEELS ACCORDING TO BODY
Cannondale equips its bikes with rims of different diameters so that all riders feel good behind the handlebars, regardless of body proportions and height. Therefore, in XS size frames we find braided wheels with a diameter of 27.5". Frames of larger sizes are then usually equipped with braided wheels with a diameter of 29".
EQUIPMENT
The high-end carbon frame is complemented by a RockShox Reba SL air fork with a stroke of 100 mm and a solid front axle of the standard 15x110 millimeters. A 12-speed Sram NX Eagle set equipped with a cassette with a range of 10-50 teeth ensures quick and precise gear changes. Truvativ Stylo cranksets with one gear and 34 teeth also come from the offer of the Sram concern. Brake power is managed by Shimano MT500 hydraulic disc brakes with discs with a diameter of 160 millimeters on the front and rear wheels. In this case, the braided wheels are built on WTB aluminum rims with an inner width of 23 millimeters and reliable Formula brand hubs. The assembly is completed by fast Schwalbe tires with a width of 2.25" in a version with a soft Addix Compound. Controllability is facilitated by wide Cannondale handlebars, comfort is guaranteed by the Fabric Scoop Shallow Sport saddle with steel skids.
