Exceed the speed limit
Military test pilots in the 60s. 20s They coined the phrase in the 19th century when they tested airplanes to their limits, risking their lives to the brink. They pushed their ball-on-top throttles all the way forward against the cockpit wall to achieve maximum speed and used the phrase: Balls to the Wall.
The BTW suit is precisely designed for such races, when you never shift up from a 53 × 11 or 12 gear and you go at your limit, or in corners at the limit of adhesion. When everyone is driving at the limit of risk. Like the airplanes that inspired the term, the BTW suit uses cutting-edge research and construction in the pursuit of speed: CFD analysis, 3D test dummies, fabric research and testing, lots of wind tunnel testing, and then WorldTour race testing. At the beginning of this research project, we were willing to sacrifice comfort for speed, but in the end we used maximally breathable and elastic fabrics that contain a little more Lycra® fibers so you don't stay completely dry, and the fabric on the shoulders is a little heavier, and the suit has no front part with Sanremo cut, so the zig break will be a bit more difficult.
But all of this is a small price to pay for a whopping THREE PERCENT overall drag savings compared to the fastest Sanremo suit in its class. The 3 percent is what really counts at higher speeds, especially in the range of 45-65 km/h. You can also have the BTW suit made in your team graphic via the Servizio Corse Castelli program, or purchase it in this stealth black ninja version to help you clear your local segments on Strava or in a group ride.
